Had a lovely V Day dinner at my friend Carla’s place last night. Her co-host and bf is a spirits rep, and we’d planned to do some whisky tasting. But with my contribution of the 12 yo Angostura 1824, a bunch of rums came out instead. Nothing wrong with that!
The 23 yo Ron Zacapa, from Guatemala, was a highlight, with a flavour closer to a bourbon. Deep, complex, warm, spicy and sweet. And with the coldest wind of the year thus far screaming its damn head off outside, it was a perfect capper to a lovely evening.
